Good afternoon everyone, hope the sun is shining wherever you are - it certainly is here!
I thought that I would share with you one of my crochet projects from this week, it is a square inspired by Moroccan tiles:
I decided upon choosing this pattern as I am visiting a very dear friend later on this week, and she loves everything Moroccan - good thing really as her husband is from there! It was destined initially to be a pot holder (I had already gifted her one of my flower crochet potholders) but then another idea popped into my head - why not applique the square to a plain cushion? So I jumped into the car and nipped over to our nearby Pondon Mill shop and got a nice plain cushion, slipped off the cover, and stitched the square to the front of it. Popped the cushion back into the cover and this is what I ended up with:
What do you think? I rather liked it and now I am thinking that potholder patterns can be very usefully employed for other things! Potholders are such lovely things to make, doesn't take too long to arrive at a completed product and is also easily portable. This pattern came from the recent edition of Simply Crochet - I don't buy this magazine every month, but the Moroccan patterns inside looked very interesting so treated myself to a copy...
There are 3 tiles in total to make, so watch this space - think I might have to make all three for a set of cushions for our sofas!
Before gift-wrapping it, I took a quick photo of the cushion lounging on my crafting chair...
I have to admit to being very pleased with it! I did have to alter the pattern slightly as some of it just didn't work, and I changed the border to include some picot edging. But all in all, a nice little project for an afternoon. Just hope she likes it!

Diamonds are forever...
Good evening!
Well I'm pleased to report some improvement on the painful toe front - have been totally resting, reading and generally taking it easy. Just the ideal time for some crochet therapy...
Armed with my favourite crochet mag, "Simply Crochet" I began running up some diamond shapes...
I didn't want to start on a big project, and these were ideal as it didn't take too long to run up the amount I needed...
They were quite interesting to make as each round used a different combination of stitches...
And - ta dah! A star shaped pot stand...
I just had to try it out with my latest charity shop find, a vintage coffee pot (in my more usual favourite autumnal shades) probably from the late 1960's or early 1970's I reckon (not that I'm an expert in these things!)
I will give the mat a once-over with the iron once I'm properly back on my feet again, but in the meantime I feel really happy having finished a little crochet project this afternoon.
Have a great weekend everyone, not sure what the weather forecast is like, we have had a few downpours here this afternoon, but glorious sunshine in between.

Springtime Potholder
Good morning...and isn't it wonderful to have a Bank Holiday Weekend!!! Such a treat, and so, so needed.
I thought I would share a photo of a crochet potholder that I made a few weeks ago for one of my sisters-in-law.
The pattern was from Simply Crochet Magazine. The yarn is 100% acrylic so nice and easy to wash. But my sister-in-law says that it is too pretty to use and she is going to hang it up in her kitchen as a decoration!!
It is in fact really functional in that the crochet "fabric" is nice and thick and would really protect your hands when lifting hot pots off the stove. I loved making it as it was a great portable project to have nearby for those spare 5 minutes here and there.
I'm hoping to make some more soon when time permits...
In the meantime I'm hoping for a bit of decent weather later so that I can potter about in the garden!
Have a lovely weekend, Helenxx
