Final call for the Diamond Jubilee Swap!

Hi everyone, long time no see!

I have been very very busy at work - lots of crafting going on, swaps received, awards received (thanks to all of you!) but no time to blog - hopefully will catch up soon.

But in the meantime, its time for the final call for the Diamond Jubilee Swap!

The rules - such as they are - are as follows:

You need to be a follower of both of our blogs as we are organising this swap jointly.

5 items for your swap partner to include:
  • something handmade (either by you or another crafter)
  • something relating to the Diamond Jubilee - there will be lots of souveneir type things around. Doesnt have to be anything expensive - there will be pens, cards etc available
  • Some crafty-type supplies (buttons, ribbon etc)
  • Something edible - of course!
  • And one other item of your choice which you think your partner would love.
We will be keeping the swap open to entrants until February 29th, and will post regarding who is partnered with who by the end of the first week in March. You will then have up until May 31 to ensure your partner receives the goodies you send! In this way your partner will have received the parcel before the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Thanks so much to all of those of you who have already joined us!

February makes part 2

Good morning, hope you are managing to keep warm wherever you are!  Still very cold here, with plenty of snow around.

So a different type of ice might make a nice change!!

Last week at cake decorating class we made Regal Ice roses - here they are:

I loved this purple icing - one of the other ladies bought it with her - we all swapped the colours we had.  These are made with 6 petals.

This picture shows the buds we made with 3 petals, then the full-on cabbage rose made with 10 petals.

I really loved making these, Im going to save them to decorate a Mothers Day cake for my darling Mum.  The great thing about Regal Ice is it has a really long sell-by date.

Next time, after half-term, we are going to do some piping - so watch this space!

Have a great weekend, Helenxx

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Hi everyone, just thought that I would post a few pics of our snowy walk last Sunday - we walked from home to our local outwoods, about 6 miles all told.

Blue skies to cheer us on our way

All is quiet and still

Welcome to the land of Narnia

And on the way home, as the sun set, this lovely scene was just so peaceful and inspiring.

Hope you all managed to make the most of the weather!

Diamond Jubilee Swap

Good evening!
I have just spent a lovely evening with my bestest friend Sue.  And as today is the 60th Anniversary of the Accession to the Throne by the Queen we thought - what about organising a Diamond Jubilee Swap?

(Image above is taken from Google)

We really loved organising the Midsummer Night's Dream Swap last year so thought we would love to go ahead!

The rules - such as they are - are as follows:

You need to be a follower of both of our blogs as Sue and I are organising this swap jointly.

If you would like to join us - and we really hope you will - please leave a comment!

PS please state if you are willing to post overseas (or not).  Thanks!

Monthly Make - February part 1

Hello everyone

Here is the first of my monthly makes for February -

A granny square shoulder bag!

I loved the colours, I chose them especially as they are the favourtie of the person who received it

I have to admit that I fell in love with the colours too, even though they are not my usual choice (regular readers will know of my love for all things autumnal).

I lined the bag with the deepest of deep purple felt

I really enjoyed making this little bag and can see myself making a few more.  Isnt it amazing how versatile the lovely granny square can be?

24 years ago today...

...DH and I got married!

And on Saturday evening darling daughter built these:

She then came back in and said she had made snowpeople to represent us - Im obviously the slimmmer snowperson ;)

The snow is still falling thick and fast:

I loved the way the flash picks out the snowflakes

We are hoping it will still be around in the morning so that we can go out for a walk in a winter wonderland.  I thought we would be in for a spell of cold weather when the fieldfares started to arrive a couple of days ago - they have virtually eaten all the berries on our rowan tree.

Keep warm, and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

January 2012 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Hello everyone!

Well, I have finally got around to posting my January Photo Scavenger pics!

We had to scavenge with our cameras for the following:
soft, 2, blur, in season, in my bathroom, mess, information, company, warning, odd, in the distance, entrance.

So, here we go:

Soft - and snuggly!

Blur - trying to take a photo of the moon without a tripod is a bit tricky..

2 - my first attempts at modelling with Regal Ice

In season - an astonishingly beautiful sunrise taken on my walk into work.

In my bathroom - this lotion is awesome - the scent is scrumptious, and it really helps my skin during the cold weather.

Mess - well it's not exactly Banksy is it?

Information - these are the details about the cake decorating course Im attending.

Company - well cats are good company, aren't they?

Warning - some advice from Nigella: "there is no way, however basic the supplies required, that shopping can be dispensed with".  Phew!!

Odd - willow wicker-work whales splashing down the side of a building.

In the distance - the full moon, again taken one morning on my way to work.

And finally for this month:

Entrance to a little nature reserve.  And this one also has warnings as well so covers two categories!

I have really enjoyed this activity and am already thinking about our February list.

Have a great weekend!

Helenxx

PS the snow is falling thick and fast here - will it last long enough to get the sledge out I wonder?
